This week we lost someone who is unquestionably one of the greatest influences to the genre of House music that has ever lived. Frankie Knuckles often referred to as “The Godfather of House” was a New Yorker from the Bronx that migrated to Chicago to help pioneer the sound of House music out of the age of Disco taking elements from that era and giving it a more “techno” edge. He was well known for his DJ residencies at the Continental Baths in Manhattan and more notably the Warehouse as well as his own club the Power Plant in Chicago. Frankie passed away due to complications from Type II Diabetes but his legacy will live on. More importantly he took a sound that once only resided in the underground and helped foster it into what is has become today. Spreading around the globe House music has become a force uniting people from all walks of life on a dance floor to share a common beat.
